Acer Aspire Laptop Review: Serious Firepower for Around $500

June 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

acer aspire laptop review
Acer has upgraded their Aspire line of laptops and the new ones are not only packing some serious heat for seriously little money, but they’re much better looking than the previous models. Used to be that

bargain laptops were ugly, gaudy looking things with cheap shiny plastic bits and pieces everywhere, notebook manufacturers have come to their senses and followed the lead of Sony with their Vaio line–even the cheapest models are slim, shapely, and beautiful like a pretty Japanese girl. Toshiba has

gotten their act together with the wonderful new A500/U500 series, and now Asus has followed suit with the new Aspire line.

Ray Sawall, senior manager of product marketing for Acer America, had this to say: “Consumers are increasingly selecting notebooks as their primary device. As proven by our latest Aspire notebooks, we recognize that value-based mobile PCs need to offer appealing aesthetics as well as great performance and multimedia capabilities.” Right on, Ray!

They say that, in light of the fact that more and more people are choosing a laptop as their primary and only computer, they’ve designed this new series to be an all-round general computer for business or student use–it’s designed to be a multimedia platform in addition to everything else, so it should be able to do everything for you. For this purpose, they feature LED backlit technology and a 16:9 aspect ratio and high-definition graphics from NVIDIA combined with a Dolby Home Theater® surround sound system.
