Samsung Blue Earth Phone Review (with video): Hands On First Look

The Samsung Blue Earth cell phone is powered by a solar panel that covers almost the entire back of the phone–Samsung says that 1 hour in the sun will give you about 10 minutes of talk time, so it would seem that the charge time would be quite a while assuming you’d want a full battery available on it. The handset also has a built-in pedometer to count walking steps for

the Eco Walk carbon footprint application it has on it, which is definitely something that potential buyers of the Blue Earth could be interested in. It’s built from recycled plastic and castor bean extract, and Samsung claims that the solar panel saves up to 34.6% of the battery’s energy. It will

also have a hand-crank generator, external solar chargers, and solar-charged headset. I’ve got more photos here and then there’s a video of a hands-on demo down at the bottom along with a couple links, do stick around:
